Estimator Jobs Profile in Canada
An Estimator within the Construction Industry requires knowledge of all the processes required to successfully complete a project, including the potential costs of materials and equipment.

An Estimator determines how much a project will cost, how long it will take to complete, and how much revenue the project ought to generate. To do this, the Estimator considers labour costs, material costs, equipment purchase or rental, manufacturing sites, facility costs and required permits and licences.

An Estimator analyses job plans, visits the site, interviews the Project Manager and then presents a bid based on their analysis of all the relevant data.

Employers commonly look for an Estimator with an undergraduate degree in mathematics, architecture or engineering. An Estimator also requires advanced computer skills as they carry out their analysis and data collection using specialised software programs. Practical experience as a labourer or supervisor in the construction industry is also highly beneficial.
